In light of stories about students being excessively suspended or dragged out of class -- literally -- by police officers the Metro Detroit ACLU folks are holding an advocacy event for students and parents.
Are you the parent of a student in Detroit Public Schools? Do you know what to do if your child gets suspended or expelled? Join the Student Rights Project (SRP), Student Advocay Center of Michigan and the Michigan Children's Law Center for a special informational on school policy and police practices in the Detroit Public School school system.
This discussion, led by ACLU of Michigan, examines how disciplinary actions such as suspension and expulsion contribute to the growing "school-to-prison pipeline" issue.
This event is free, open to the public, and takes place Wednesday, November 4, 2015 6-8 p.m. , 13560 E. McNichols Road, Detroit, MI.
